Hey,

Will there be a season 2 of Hunter x Hunter? I read some previous forums about it and they said there is not enough manga source material to make a new season, however that was over a year ago.

Do you think there is a chance of a new season coming out soon?

the manga is only one story arc ahead of the 2011 anime. you might get one 10 to 20 episode arc at most. i dont theres a chance of it happening any time soon

I doubt the current story can get to 20 episodes.

And for most of that year there has not been any chapter of the manga. Right now there are what 2 or 3 volumes after the anime, and that means around 6 episodes.

Nope, seeing as the manga is kinda dead. (I count an endless hiatus as a dead show)

Unfortunately probably not, the manga has been on hiatus for a really long time and rarely updates. At least the anime ended in a nice place, even if it is a bit open ended.

This is why I never bothered with the series, it'll probably never get finished in my lifetime at this rate.

This topic is taboo. Its no coincidence the author himself named it Hiatus x Hiatus

ye, better read some mahouka :D

Oshii is probably the only director that loves dogs. He thinks he's a dog himself.

That's right, its slime! It will dissolve your clothing slowly before my eyes!

welp the manga only added few chapters last year and this year its still on hiatus due to chronic back problems of the manga author

if they animate the new manga chapters it will be like 4-8 episodes only

so forget about Hunter X Hunter for now

Well obviously, its my favorite series and actually has a pretty consistent release schedule. Waiting for translations is the only issue, but its a novel series of course, so its bound to take awhile and I can live off of summaries and spoilers for now. A bit off-topic, since we're talking about Hiatus x Hiatus here though.

You mentioned that you never bothered cause its unfinished, but its the same with Mahouka if my info isnt outdated.

I also think despite not being finished its well worth the watch and most people apparently agree with me since its very high in the rankings.

There are only about 4 chapters a year which would adapt to 2 episodes. If there wasn't enough manga a year ago it will be the same now. The mangaka will reach retirement age before there's enough material to make a second season of comparable length to the first.

Hunter x hunter went through a hiatus, so I do not think the is sufficient source material for a new season for the anime

The difference is, is that Mahouka has never went on a hiatus and the volume release is pretty regular(1 every 3 months, so 4 volumes a year, which is good consistency from a novel series) . HxH can't really be compared, because the author just stops making content and goes on very long hiatus with no sign of returning anytime soon. If I want to invest a large amount of time on something like that, I would want to see a conclusion eventually. Sure I might really like the content, but that will only lead to more frustration and disappointment if I never see a continuation or a conclusion.

The chances of them finishing their works arent really different, they are actually the same for everyone publishing. Togashi has previously finished 4 manga series, the Mahouka guy didnt finish even one work so theres little possibility of prediction. Correct me if im wrong and he has finished anything.

Again, not really comparable. Sato is a relatively new and upcoming author, his first work is Mahouka and the series has been publishing since 2011 (originally started as a web novel before that though) and like i said, it has had a very consistent release schedule year after year(20 volumes in 5 years). While Togashi is veteran, who's been around for awhile, but his work on HXH has been very inconsistent as he's been having health issues since 06, plus the series is appoarching nearly 20 years old, with no signs of continuation or a conclusion anytime soon.

Thats cool that he keeps up a good schedule and all but everyone is vulnerable, these japanese writers seem especially fragile. Its exactly the fact that hes a new upcoming author that theres no idea or proof whether he will or is able to finish his work.
Another example is Oda which is light years ahead of everyone in terms of schedule and how long he kept it up. Theres still no evidence that he will or wont finish One Piece.

edit: actually, forget it. I just have a hangover and am discussing for no reason, my wishes of him ending the manga wont make it real.

True, but I can't rely on "what ifs", I'd rather rely on what I actually see happening right now. Well the difference is One Piece is a long running shounen, that could potentially go on for decades like Dragon Ball. Mahouka on the other hand will end much earlier than those two. I mean the series is named "the irregular at magic high school" and the author said something along the lines that the series would cover entirety of the characters high school years, so once they're finished with HS(in the latest volume they just became third years), the series will be probably be over with and that should be in no more than 2-3 years, so again not a good comparison lol.

Dragon Ball only went for 10 years. So not really Decades. And One Piece already surpassed it and is going for 20 years.

Well, since Hunter x Hunter took a long hiatus. Yoshihiro will be continue the manga and it is announced that it will be on Jan. 29th. Check here in this link, https://comicbook.com/anime/2017/11/30/hunter-x-hunter-manga-return-january-2018-hiatus-anime/.

But, I guess there will be a season 2 of Hunter x Hunter or might not. It's too bad if there will be no season 2. But anyways, Hunter x Hunter is one of my most favourite!
